Placerville California’s Historic Main Street has wonderful shops, restaurants and lots of history!

Come home to Placerville where small town friendliness is a staple and the nostalgic charm of yesteryear is all around. The Placerville Downtown Association (PDA) hosts events and activities that promote a sense of community and build relationships that keep people coming back to Historic Main Street.

Placerville was named after the placer deposits found in the river and creek beds around the town during the Gold Rush. While miners found gold in the rivers and creeks around town, Placerville became an important supply center for the surrounding mining camps.

Today, Historic Main Street has unique shops and top notch restaurants enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.  Placerville Downtown is a great place to have a business, too! See the About pages to find out more about the Placerville Downtown Association and the many ways the PDA supports the business community.
