Great Race 2000


The results are in ... out of 18 pit-stops, the "Greatest American City Award" in the pit-stop category. The award is $5000 to the El Dorado County Library.

101 cars traveling from Boston to Sacramento ... 1915 Ford Model T (oldest) to a 1964 Studebaker convertible .... on June 24th The History Channel Great Race, 2000, vintage automobiles traveling from Boston, up to 100 vintage automobiles stopped in Historic Downtown Placerville on their way to compete for $250,000 in a timed, controlled speed, endurance rally, ending in Sacramento.

Car 59 What helped us win? A total community teamwork effort made up of merchants, service organizations, volunteers, entertainers, classic car owners, announcers, food and beverage sponsors and our very generous corporate sponsors!


The Placerville Downtown Association planned and organized the event. They had help from:
