Main Street Flower Baskets
In 2008, the “Flower Power Committee” started a “grass roots” effort to beautify Main Street with hanging flower baskets on light poles and the Bell Tower in downtown Placerville.
To raise additional funds to keep this tradition going, the Placerville Downtown Association has hosted an event called Rhythm and Blooms. This year, however, we offered the opportunity to REALLY be a part of this project to beautify Main Street.
Help the Flower Basket Project!
In lieu of the Rhythm and Blooms event, how would you like to sponsor flower baskets on Main Street? Just think: each basket costs $200 to plant and water each year. What if you sponsored a basket by donating $25 to $200?
 This is a community art project that is so welcoming and beautiful, we do not want it to end! Last year there were 54 baskets on Main Street. This year we will have about 28 baskets because we will be testing new flowers to enrich the beauty and next year we want to be back up to at least 50 baskets, if not more.
We also partner with MORE (Mother Lode Rehabilitation Enterprises) to water these beautiful baskets every day (sometimes twice) and they love it!.
The beautification partnership is a collaborative effort between businesses, organizations, City government and individuals from the community that aim to bring color and smiles to historic Main Street. What better way to bring the whole community into beautifying Main Street!
