The Prospector's Cafe
Small town cafe & bakery
The Prospector's Cafe is a small town cafe and bakery located on Historic Main Street, Placerville, that holds true to the rich history of our community. Outfitted in local gold mining artifacts, maps, pictures and antiques in one of the oldest buildings on Main Street, The Prospector's Cafe offers soup, salad, sandwiches and a variety of baked good, ice cream treats, good conversation, music, board games and foosball.
Owner Cindy Southerland has been living in the Placerville area for the past thirty years and has a lot of experience in dining and baking. Her father was the Chef at the Cedar Room at the Raffles Hotel (now The Cary House).
Serving breakfast and lunch, they use only the freshest ingredients for their soups, salads and sandwiches. They also offer hand-made smoothies, shakes, cakes, cookies and pies. The Prospector's Cafe offers the best coffee drinks and deserts on Historic Main Street. There's something here for everyone!
The Prospector's Cafe hosts local events, foosball tournaments, displays local Placerville Artists' work, has Karaoke breaks and supports our local community at large. Current projects include bringing PBS's StoryCorps to the cafe in which we can record our local oral histories from our pioneering families.
We believe in supporting local businesses and merchants so that they will be there when we need them!.
