Annieberries
Opened in 2005, Annieberries was fashioned from Anne Totherow’s love of children. Her idea of “a bright, kid friendly store where customers can come and let their children run free finding just what they were looking for” came to life opening day of her store November 25, 2005. When one day Anne heard about a children’s store for sale, she couldn’t resist, “The idea inspired me to inquire.” Named after Anne and her husband, Barry, Annieberries came to life.

Four years later and a creative opportunity to form her own styles and business, Anne works to make the store a place for moms, or “a resource destination.”

Anne hopes to keep moms in touch with local mom groups, lactation consultants as well as give back to the community by supporting local organizations like CASA and Autism awareness. Moms are also offered Medela breast pumps and many other items, as well as decorative furniture and photography. Using markets to buy “all the beautiful clothes for different seasons” Anne shows her customers the latest fun gifts on the market as well as the most “unusual, practical and fun items” to provide something extra for the customers.

At the foundation of her business, Anne focuses on how to “provide Placerville with quality, as beautifully and reasonably as I could” without being too expensive and maintaining a competitive edge above other stores. “Some lines I carry are more pricey than Wal-Mart or Target but they are unique and of very good quality. I buy what I think I would like on children and hope my customers approve. So far they seem to like what I buy.” The setting at Annieberries however is unlike any other children’s clothing store. A place where kids can come in and play, and not be afraid to run around and mess the store up, Annieberries provides a setting of low worry and fun for the customers.

Some popular items at Annieberries are the art supplies, the unique baby shower gifts, the Melissa and Doug toy line, squeaky shoes that encourage children to walk but are also great for keeping track of the little ones, and the French clothing. “I try to bring this community what my costumers ask for and need. I try to offer the best price possible…I believe we have something for every pocketbook.” Although Anne has had no time for hiring a staff, she hopes that when she does, she can find people who are friendly, flexible, honest, and above all else love children. “We want to be able to offer a bit for all babies” says Anne of her store. Uncover the creativity and exuberance of Annieberries today.
