2014 Events on Placerville's Historic Main Street

2014 will be another event-filled year on Historic Main Street! We will have Third Saturday Placerville ArtWalks, a "Girl's Night Out" event, car shows, great music, beautiful banners, a Brewfest, a craft faire, a motorcycle run for charity, an antique faire, Art & Wine Festival, Halloween and the wonderful holiday events in November and December. We invite you to come and experience Main Street and have fun during these events!

MONTHLY, Third Saturday, Stagecoach Rides
12PM to 3PM. Historic Downtown Placerville. Free stagecoach rides on Historic Main Street every month except June provided by Davey "Doc" Wiser and his great crew. For information please call (530) 672-3436.

MONTHLY, Third Saturday, Placerville Art Walk
5PM to 9PM. Historic Downtown Placerville. Main Street galleries and merchants host changing art shows and late night shopping every third Saturday of the month. Demonstrations, refreshments, music and more. For information please call (530) 672-3436.

April 11th, 2014: Girls Night Out
6PM to 9PM. This fun, Friday night event focused on activities that appeal to women. The 7th Annual Girls Night Out featured a Fabulous 50's theme, so "We rocked around the block that night!"  Merchants stayed open late to showcase all the great things they had to offer. Attendees checked in at the Bell Tower to pick up a program, purchase a Scavenger Hunt card or enjoy a special 50's inspired beverage.  Activities included entertainment, Scavenger Hunt, games, prize drawings, man caves, health and beauty specials, massage, restaurant specials, dance demonstrations, jitterbug contest, sales & promotions, food, chocolate, olive oil samplings, and much more. April 11th – May 11th: Main Street Tagline Contest
PDA invites the community and visitors to help define our Main Street's brand, character, style and personality with a Tagline! The winning tagline (and its creator) were announded at the Main Street Matters Reveal Celebration on June 21st around 5pm. The new Historic Main Street Placerville tagline is Discover More Than Gold.

MAY 18th, 2014: Hangtown Car Show
9AM to 3PM on Historic Main Street, Placerville. Sponsored by the Placerville Lions Club. Participation was limited by the number of spaces available. Admission and parking were free for spectators. For info and pre-registration to show a car please call Mike at (530) 622-1731.

MID-MAY through OCTOBER 2014
Saturday Farmers Market, 8AM-Noon 
This event will feature fresh produce, flowers and other items from local farmers. On Historic Main Street in the Ivy House lot near Cedar Ravine. For info call (530) 622-1900.

JUNE 7th, 2014: Wagon Train on Main
12PM-3PM –Main Street welcomed the Highway 50 Association's 65th Annual Wagon Train with a host of fun activities including Server's Races, gold-panning, country music, western style shoot-outs, refreshments & more. The Wagon Train came down Historic Main Street at about 2pm on its way from the Broadway Village area and proceeded on to the "End of the Trail" celebration and dinner on Placerville Drive. JUNE 7th – OCTOBER 13th, 2014: Banners on Parade
This is our 10th Anniversary of Placerville Art on Parade! See more 2014 Banners on Parade information here. This community art project features 32 artistically decorated banners (see the brochure here) on light poles along Main Street in Placerville. This is a collaborative effort of artists, businesses, organizations, individuals and city government that promotes the arts in historic downtown Placerville. These beautiful banners are on Main Street and will be for sale at a Silent Auction at the October 18th, 2014, Art & Wine Festival. For more info contact (530) 672-3436.

Wednesday Main Street Farmers Market, 4PM-Dusk 
This event features fresh produce, flowers and other items from local farmers on Historic Main Street around the Bell Tower. For info call (415) 250-5337.

JUNE 21st, 2014: "Main Street Matters" Reveal Celebration
4PM to 7PM. The "Reveal" celebrated the buildings on Main Street that were painted as part of Benjamin Moore's "Paint What Matters" Contest that Placerville won (one of 20 cities in North America) by voting for the makeover! There were other supplemental activities:  entertainment, refreshments, cake, speeches and more were featured at this very special event that proved that Placerville's Main Street Matters! JUNE 28th, 2014: Bell Tower Brewfest
6PM to 9PM.This popular Placerville event was hosted by downtown merchants and included a street closure for the enjoyment and safety for all patrons. Attendees sampled over 40 different craft brews. Entertainment featured Achilles Wheel, Shauna Lea & The Hired Guns Band, and the Ice House Blues Band performing live during the festival. Tickets were limited for the brew-tasting and did sell out We always ask folks attending to please be responsible and bring a NON-DRINKING DESIGNATED DRIVER, or make prior arrangements with our local taxi companies. Tickets were available locally in Placerville at River City Bank, Cuppa Coffee & More, The Wine Smith and Powell's Steamer Co. & Pub. Thank you for supporting Main Street at this big fundraiser! AUGUST 10th, 2014: Craft Faire
8AM - 3PM in Historic Downtown Placerville. Main Street closes to host the 17th Annual Craft Faire with over 100 artisans from all over the West featuring pottery, jewelry, woodwork, quilted and decorating items, dolls, garden items, soaps, candles, food and much, much more. AUGUST 28th, 2014: Hangtown Car Show

SEPTEMBER 13th, 2014: Kacie's Ride for Hope
8AM - 11AM in Historic Downtown Placerville. Main Street closes to host this important Motorcycle Run that raises awareness and funds for the fight against domestic violence. SEPTEMBER 20th, 2014: Placerville Oktoberfest
3PM - 8PM. This fun event will feature live music (complete with Chicken Dance and polkas!), Wiener Dog Races, Children's Games, Beer-related Games, Bavarian Dance Demos, a Silent Auction, Hot Dog Eating Contest and (of course) bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, apple strudel, beer and more. SEPTEMBER 28th, 2014: Antique Street Faire
8AM - 3PM in Historic Downtown Placerville. The 26th Annual Antique Street Faire closes Main Street to host antiques & collectibles peddlers for this popular event. Food, refreshments, and more. OCTOBER 18th, 2014: Art & Wine Festival
6PM - 9PM. Over 30 foothill wineries will offer samples of their wines inside merchant locations on Historic Main Street in Placerville. In addition, the works of many local artists will be featured in the galleries and the “Banners On Parade” community art project will be displayed on Main Street and sold during the silent auction that evening. Music at the Bell Tower, art demonstrations & hors d’oeuvres, too. Sample award-winning wines in one convenient location without driving to all the wineries! TICKETS ARE LIMITED for the wine-tasting and are available on Main Street at Cuppa Coffee & More, River City Bank and The Wine Smith. Sponsored by the Placerville Downtown Association. OCTOBER 31st, 2014: Trick or Treat on Main Street
4PM - 6PM in Historic downtown Placerville. Main Street merchants hand out candy (while supplies last) to trick-or-treaters for this great family event. There will be a DJ at the Bell Tower and a Costume Contest (sponsored by the 20-30 Club) at 6PM. Town Hall will also host a Carnival for children 10 and under (sponsored by The Placerville Lions Club).  For info call (530 672-3436).

NOVEMBER 28th, 2014: Festival of Lights
Festival of Lights 5:30PM – 8PM on Historic Main Street in Placerville. The old-fashioned festivities will close Historic Main Street and begin around 5:30PM at various locations up and down Main Street with music, entertainment, visits with Santa, stagecoach rides (4-6pm) and the tree-lighting at 6PM at the Courthouse. NOVEMBER 28th & 29th, 2014: Merchants Open House
Extended Hours. Historic Main Street merchants welcome visitors with coffee, cider and seasonal goodies. Enjoy hometown holiday shopping and hospitality in one convenient setting. Free parking, entertainment, stagecoach rides and more. For more information call (530) 672-3436.

DECEMBER 7th, 2014: 36th Annual Christmas Parade
This big Holiday Parade takes place rain or shine and starts at the Broadway Plaza parking lot on upper Broadway in Placerville at 1pm and continues down Main Street. This year's theme is "Rockin' Christmas."  Sponsored by The Mountain Democrat and benefitting Toys 4 Tots in our community (bring a new, unwrapped toy for a boy or girl). DECEMBER 1-12, 2014: The 12 Days of Christmas
Shoppers will have a chance to enter a drawing for a chance to win $300 worth of Main Street gift certificates. Get your shopping done early and win $300 to spend at Historic Main Street businesses! Thank you for supporting your local independent merchants!

DECEMBER Saturdays, 2014: Visits with Santa
Santa will be arriving in Historic Downtown Placerville to listen to those special wishes on December 13th at CandyStrike Emporium (398 Main) from 1-4PM. Photos will be available for purchase, but are not required to visit with Santa. For more info call (530) 672-3436.

DECEMBER, WEEKENDS 2014: Stagecoach Rides
on Historic Main Street, Placerville. Davey "Doc" Wiser and his crew will be providing FREE rides (in good weather) at the Bell Tower on these dates: November 28th (4-6PM), November 29th (12-3PM), December 6th (12-3PM),December 13th & 14th (12-3PM), and December 20th & 21sd (12PM-3PM).
