Owner's Sue Rees and her family opened the shop to support the needle craft needs of the stitches in the foothill communities. The store was established in 2001 with the goal of providing quality material and instructions for the needle artists in the area. The nearest shop carrying needle craft materials is over 75 miles away. They offer a wide range of patterns, kits, fabrics, and fibers for cross-stitching, needlepoint, hardanger, huck weaving and more. Class are offered for a broad range of experience. Owner Lou Andersen opened Lofty Lou’s in 1990 in a loft above a yarn shop. At that time they specialized in spinning and weaving supplies and equipment. Lou carried a line of hand dyed yarns at this location. The business moved to the present location in 1993, because the spinners and weavers were tired to carrying their spinning wheels up the stairs to the loft. In 1998 when the yarn shop closed, Lou began carrying yarns. Today they carry over 130 different yarns and a full line of fibers, spinning and weaving supplies.
